Three’s Company…

Hey Everybody!

What do you think about when you see a triangle? Some may say a piece of pie, pizza, or some other food. For us we use the triangle to share how anxiety works in our bodies.

The best way to understand how anxiety is created is by looking at a triangle!

I bet this sounds quite out of place, but the reaction triangle is a great visual representation of how all our feelings, thoughts, and actions are connected.

  • Thoughts are at the top of the triangle: everything you think about throughout the day.

  • Feelings are the things you feel in your body, i.e., sad, happy, excited, etc.

  • Actions are what you do, such as crying, yelling, jumping, or shutting down.



The second category, external self-awareness, means understanding how other people view us regarding those same factors listed above. Research shows that people who know how others see them are more skilled at showing empathy and taking others’ perspectives. Leaders who see themselves as their employees do tend to have a better relationship with them, feel more satisfied with them, and see them as more effective in general.

Our take-home is, how well do you know yourself?
