TRAINING DESCRIPTION:
When we host a training, we first help the caregivers, teachers, pastors, and community leaders process their trauma and experiences because we know that we first must take care of ourselves. For these types of training, we use a curriculum from the American Bible Society called Trauma Healing, which has been contextualized for East Africa.
The Trauma Healing programs we currently offer are described in the below descriptions.
Convening Sessions: We host events where the church, ministry, and community leaders can experience the Trauma Healing Ministry. Afterward, they will receive a check-in from one of our staff members, and you will decide if this ministry would be helpful within your community.
Healing Hearts Club: The club is for kids aged 7 to 12 and offers a safe and supportive environment to learn coping mechanisms and address emotions such as anxiety, fear, and loss.
These camps will provide moments of hope and healing through sharing gospel-driven curriculums. [Max 16 per group]
Healing Groups: a safe, multi-session small group where people with heart wounds can find healing, engage with Scripture, and become more resilient. Certified facilitators lead healing groups and cover topics such as God’s presence in suffering, grieving, and forgiveness. Adult healing groups are meant for those ages 18 and older and are not intended to replace professional mental health care. [Max 12 per group]
Initial Equipping Session: the first stage of the training cycle, which trains people to facilitate Healing Groups. Want to find out how healing groups can help your heart? Learn more about them in this equipping session and get equipped to help someone who needs it.
